'Parade'. 1985. Mixed Media Installation.
Parade is the
name of the first of the artists three large composite banner
installations, the others being 'The
Maze Whirlpool' (1990-present) and 'Inside
the Kerbstones' (1992). It consisted of a series
of 5 large double-sided paintings in the form of marching
banners and painted with an interacting narrative linking
the imagery on the cloth and the 3 dimensional supports.
It was only ever completely exhibited at the Independent
Artists 25th Exhibition at the Guinness Hop Store in Dublin
in 1985, however selections were exhibited in the Arts Council
Gallery Belfast 1985 and in 'Directions Out' at the Douglas
Hyde Gallery Dublin 1987.
